Imola 186 inlet manifold split

Postby Norrie Bodge » Tue May 15, 2018 3:31 pm

Lads
A mate has an imola 186 kit that’s done approx
350 Miles since built & the rubber has split!!
Which is fine?

But on stripping it off for him, the rubber/manifold
Is all one piece?? Has anyone had this issue ?
& has a way of fixing this ?

Cheers

What carb size is it for, a 28 / 30 mm dellorto phb type carb
Would the newer type inlet manifolds with a bolt on rubber flange not work?

I have one of those in a box of spares, the rubber pushes on and locks on a ridge, the carb does the same. It came with my 30 mm Oko.

It’s for a 28mm PHBH m8
Yes they the better option but at £100+
He’s a bit miffed that it looks like the one he has can’t just be replaced ?

He’s on cutting the rubber off now
I will post up later how the manifold looks when off

I might have an unused 28/ 30 mm inlet with spare flange, will check mate

We got sorted with a used manifold
but to the heck could we get me mates bike to run/start ok
So the Other version of imola manifold was not compatible

So along with user - special brew... we decided on a bit of surgery to orig manifold
We manage to source a piece of billet 12mm alloy plate from a good m8
& here the pics on what we managed to get this sorted

Chopped off the lip where carb rubber lived

Marked out ready

All cut & dressed up & prepped

Back from the welder (special brew)

Dremel/rotary - cleaned up & m8 holes tapped out

All Fitted & yep she lives again

Well done NB. That was exactly what I was going to suggest, and then I scrolled down to see you had already done it. It looks better than new.

I hope you found the experience rewarding.
