Cylinder identification

Postby Jono » Fri Jun 08, 2018 6:38 pm

I have found a standard bore 150 barrel at back of my garage which I may use .
However, not sure exactly which model it is for.
The only identification I can see is a single half circular notch in the top fin.
The current engine I am building is an Indian GP150 and need a suitable cylinder, hence the garage search.
Anybody got any idea about identification of barrel ( I think it was off a GP some years ago!,,)

It'll be SX or GP. The only barrels that had the notch as far as I'm aware.

If you have 'Stickys' manual, second edition, page 81, shows the different types of cylinder, and how to identify them!. My LIS 150, barrel has two semi circular notches in the top fin!

Many thanks for replies.
Although I have Sticky’s first edition it looks like I will have to buy 2nd edition or put it on my birthday list.
Obviously I need to positively identify to ensure I have correct match for GP Engine.
Will put rebuild on hold until I have access to page 81 of Sticky’s Manual or can find a friend with a copy.

Put it on hold. Why? It's either going to be SX, GP, or LI special. Any one of which will do. Just stick it on.
