crown wheel cush drive

Just stripping a Spanish series 2 and the engine has a crown wheel with springs inside ? is this standard/common or something out of the ordinary ?

That’s what was fitted to mine Mick. I did swap it out for a solid one, can’t remember where I found that advice.

The Cush drive rear sprocket was fitted in most Italian, up to the GP and all Spanish motors I've seen.

They're supposed to be unreliable in high powered motors, and given that most of them will be between 30 and 60 years old, you might want to check for broken springs and tight rivets. If you could find a service kit then you could probably renovate it. That said, if it's not going into a high power, high mileage motor and looks ok then it'll probably be OK.

Looking at fitting the Quattrini kit so won't be going back in.

Seems a pity as quite a good idea which i believe some of the high end clutches are now replicating.

It was just another money saving feature of the DL/GP. Innocenti did a lot of modifications to reduce production costs during the production of the series 3 model.

The internal Cush drive is a neat idea, but it just so happens that the solid crown wheel was best suited to machines that were tuned, so they have become accepted as the norm.
