MA18BS5 vs MA19 BS5/7 -Parts & Compatibility

Postby AndyVee » Sun Oct 21, 2018 12:25 pm

Hi all, having trouble sourcing parts for an old Dellorto MA18BS5 carb and wanted to know if I could order MA19 parts and they would be OK (Main problem is a D20 needle) ? Im not too sure what the difference was between the two, are they different sizes or do the carb numbers just refer to different initial needle and jet sizes. ?

On the assumption I may have to give up rebuilding the carb if I cant find all the needles, jets, attomisers etc, what do I replace it with ? (Series 2 125 Li).

Hi AndyVee.
Other than the diameter (18 vs 19), the internal parts should be compatible between the two carb. bodies. I have a number of bodies and used spares (needles, jets) which are in good condition for these carbs. If you list what you need, I will try and help.
Thanks.

Hi Herbert, appreciate this, what I am trying to do is refurb the carb and main thing I cant find is the D20 Needle (this is why I was asking about compatible parts as I can get a D21 but not sure what the difference is ?). Also, if you have one which is not too worn, I would like to try a different slide too (I think this is a size 50). Mine seems to have a lot of play inside the barel and would be good to compare to see if it is worn ?

If you have these parts prob best to DM me and Ill share my details and we can agree some costs ? Thanks again.

Dellorto Uk seem to have a good stock of these parts. Can work out pretty dear to refurb a carb from them though!

Thanks for the links, took a look at this over the weekend and like you said will be silly money, I think if I had to go to Delorto direct for the needle, slide and a couple of jets I would be looking at £70 plus delivery, in that case I would be more likely to just buy a new carb. So happy to spend a few quid to keep the originality, but not throwing money at it.
