What is shown is the first date of registration...................which means exactly that, the date of manufacture may be earlier, sometimes much earlier.
The date of first registered in the UK is also shown.
The qualification for "historic" classification is the date of manufacture. If you have a certificate stating this date then it can be used to support a change in taxation class to "historic".
YOM is not shown in the V5 details but often in the box at the bottom of the front page it says "Declared manufactured in 19**". It certainly does on some of mine.
Best thing to do is get a dating letter from myself then there's no arguments.
