6V Wiring loom

Postby Lambr62 » Tue Mar 05, 2019 9:10 pm

Hi,
I am converting the original 6V ignition system on the SX150 I am restoring to 12v AC electronic ignition. Is there any reason I could not use the original 6v loom adapted to suit?

Nope it will probably be fine.

The only things to watch with old wire is that the insulation goes brittle and can crack where you can't see it and the wire itself can corrode within the sheathing leading to either shorting or high resistance in the loom.

You'll need to adapt the wiring scheme to suit though, in a lot of cases you can simply bundle the wires together and connect them to the output of the regulator. Spend a little time studying the diagrams in the back of Sticky's book and it should be fairly obvious what you need power to.
