Sowhat are these holes on my GP hub?

If you mean the small holes,its were the holes for the pivot pins have been threaded from the other side.I can only think that if you put loctite on the threads,its to prevent hydraulics.

Yeah,it prevents the hydraulic pressure as your tightening.
