assuming its a stator with 2 yellow wire coming out of it, use a multi-meter set to 200VAC to measure the AC output from the magneto stator. If this seems ok when revved out, then measure the output from your rectifier/ regulator (Wassel) which should read between 13.5-14.0VDC.

Don’t have 200vac on my meter ( only 750 & 1000)
on the 1000 setup the Stator yellow wires are showing only 11v, when connected to the wassel there is nothing even when the battery is connected

That does suggest a stator problem, have you checked for any bad soldered joins on the stator and that to wires aren't pinched and shorting behind the stator? You should read around an ohm or so across the lighting coils.

Have you changed the meter to dc when checking the Wassell output ? variable ac in, regulated dc out

As Coaster advised, Do a resistance check across both yellow wires and also do an insulation check from any yellow wire and the engine casing.
If the Wassel is short circuit, it will drag down any measurement of the AC "in" value. So disconnect the yellow wires from the regulator and then connect your meter to these wires and set the AC 750V range.
Start the engine.
When revved out you should see over 100VAC on this open circuit connection.
A very low reading would suggest that both yellow wires are nipped to earth somewhere forming a low resistance short circuit.
Negligible reading would suggest an open circuit coil or wire.

Nearly there Meds, lack of garage space and crap weather been a hindrance. Stator is fine, looking like wassel too Blame

Got round to checking an unloaded standard electronic type stator converted to operate a DC system
60-75v AC at tickover

Simple test.
Measure battery voltage.
Start bike.
Rev to 3000rpm (ish)
Measure battery voltage
If the battery voltage is higher with motor running, then that's good. If it's lower, then it's bad, in other words, not charging.

Hi Meds,
Too be honest I ain’t got a foggy idea where the fault lies, have bought a scootronics stator n wassel n new hi power cdi stuff that I’ll be fitting soon. Like I said electrics ain’t one of my strong points on anything

What do you mean when you say unloaded? Were both yellow wires open circuit?
