Rear lens

Postby Jonle » Sat Oct 26, 2019 7:53 am

Hi, does anyone know where I could find a rear lens like the one below. I had a look round and all I seem to be able to find are complete rear light units. Which are a lot of money when I only need the lens. Cheers, Jon

Hi.
The lens looks like a Catalux lens an original 1 will cost an arm maybe a leg thrown in. There was a French company I believe making some. Use your search engine and have a browse good luck.

That lense will not fit your backlight, it's for the smaller ld type body ,

As noted above, there are two types for Lambretta, the smaller 'high holes' LD type, and the larger Series 2 type (mid holes).

If you don't have the patience (or funds) to source an original, Clauss Studios has remade both the housing and the lens, and you can fit original reflectors, or contemporary 'E' marked ones. It won't look like an original, but from 2 metres the majority of the great unwashed wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I've purchased a few NOS original lenses over the last 2 years, and based on my own experience, expect to pay between £60 - £130 each.

Thanks for the info. Ive seen complete units for about £250. I’ve looked on the clauss website and at the other link and they don’t seem to do the lens just the housing. Oh well I’ll keep looking ;)

Clauss makes them. If not in stock, just email him and he'll make you up one. As noted on his website, he's currently traveling but will be back on 5th of November, and is normally very prompt to respond to emails.

I've still got the £180 one from you a few years back.

Maskes Vespa Classics (NL) sell the modern versions of the reflectors, they have 'E' marks, so won't look original, but from a few metres most wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
