Hi,
I’m toying with the idea of fitting a remade original type disk brake, are any of you guys using 1 of these? It is to be going on a series 2 reed valve 186 muggy, so not a total speed merchant.

I've got an inboard disc brake with a reverse pull cable on it and sintered pads.It stops great and the brake is good.

I’m in the same situation. I’ve got used various outboards but wanted original look reverse pull inboard. Taking the time to setup properly has paid dividends. Stops and works mint. As well as my inboard hydraulic setup. All though I’ve only done around 1000m with it it has impressed me.

I have purchased a re-made original type disk brake having read the advice given and also got some sintered pads, I intend swapping the pads while I am away from home ( waiting to go into work ) what spanners should I through in a box to take with me?

Evening.
I have had an hour in the man cave and managed to swap out the wheel studs for SIP 1’s as I intend to use their tubeless rims (another post helped me make my mind up) I am changing the pads to sintered as suggested above, I’ve removed the spindle nut and lightly taped the spindle until it is flush with the hub, my question is should I be able to separate the 2 halves at this stage or what is the next step?

It's a while since I split mine but I seem to think the disc sometimes gets stuck on the 3 inner spindles and that I have had to tap that to free the two halfs completely. Looking at the time you've probably sussed that by now

Ordered thanks that is the 1 piece I could not figure out from all the images I had seen, I’d looked at Rimini before and did not see that an option to buy on its own.

Help needed!

I’ve just taken my brake apart and numpty I am did not take any notice of which way round the disk goes, I’m guessing raised section towards the window?

It will only fit one way

Have you got the thicker type cable from Scooter Restorations? If not, it is definitely worth it. In my experience, you’ll need to trim the outer and maybe the inner. You don’t want a great big loop but you also don’t want a short and tight loop. Cut a bit at a time.

All back together I have a T5 brake light cable I’m planning to use the 1 with the built in switch!

Thank you for taking the opportunity to remind us all of a problem that I experienced.

Really, I haven't followed this up, as even I get fed up with banging on about safety.

However, if I were in Scooter Restorations shoes, I would take the opportunity of being pro-active in eliminating any issue the supply of their disc brake specific cable may have had.

At the very least, I would seek out a supplier that could ensure a product fit for purpose.

Then I would look @ all sales records of the item & send out replacements FOC.

IMO it would cost them very little but reap greater rewards.

Or is it me being 'short sighted'

Is it that the Scooter Restoration cable is for a std routing? as the reverse pull requires a shorter cable

No, that's not the issue, although you're correct. The nipple simply pulls off the end in the lever on the handlebars.

I there anybody that manufactures an I cap without the I?
