Tool Boxes

Postby shane BBoys » Fri Jan 03, 2020 1:42 pm

Hi.
What if any are the difference between series 1,2 & 3 tool boxes? Also other than the GP 1’s being plastic do these differ in any way?
Cheers Shane.

I don't think they do Shane. There are supposed to be differences between the tanks, but as far as I know the toolboxes are the same.

i think the box bit is the same but the series two has a shorter hook to the front. i have no idea if this plays any part in being able to fit a series 2 box to a series 3 or vice versa strikes me you just need the right length fixing but will admit to only ever taking toolboxes out of series 3 scooters and never having fitted one.

my quest for 2 original paint series 3 boxes to replaces battered and rusty ones removed, led me to the conclusion that there is a subtle difference.

i.e i made sure i purchased boxes labelled as series 3 that looked identical in all ways to what i took off... hence my belive is ebay and small ad. based not a direct compare of 2 boxes in front of me

You're right. I'd forgotten that. Yes, the hooks for the trunnions are different. The top one on the S2 toolbox is more prominent, meaning that you can't easily fit a S3 airbox.
