Kick start conundrum

Hi I have a problem with kickstart on series 2 LI150

The kickstart seems to have seized e.g. won’t kick down. I took the chain case off and all seems to be OK. All the gear cogs turn and when removed you can depress the kick start fully.

Put back on without fastening properly and you can depress the kick start and it turns the engine over.

Now I fasten the chain case back on correctly and the kick start is siezed again, any ideas?

Neil

I had the same issue and my problem I found out was two teeth missing off first gear cog and cluster. New cog and cluster all fine.

Check to see if the kickstart shaft is fouling the clutch top steel, you should see marking on the clutch.

Use engineering blue on clutch, then put side case back on with just a few nuts, try kickstart gently, Take side case off, then you will see where it is scoring (touching).

You might be able to address the issue with a thicker (or two) sidecase gaskets, but finding out where it is fouling beneath the casing is still the best way forward

Also check the condition of the kickstart shaft retaining circlip.

Has one of the two bronze bushes in the casing that the kick start shaft sits in slid back into the casing .
