Fitting AF Clubman to Early series 1 150 casing

Postby Granty » Thu Jul 09, 2020 3:41 pm

Afternoon -- next question, I'm planning of replacing the original s1 pipe with an AF Clubman -- question is would I be best tapping the stud holes to fit the 8mm studs to hold the clubman or just fix it with the original 6mm studs? I'm thinking bigger is best with the 8mm bearing in mind there's no holding bolt on the bottom of the s1 casing? Thoughts?

Cheers G

The problem could be you won't have a hole in your case for the underside bracket

That's correct, there is no hole underside so I think best to increase the size of the studs holding the exhaust onto the case? Anyone out there fitted a clubman to an early series 1 casing?

I had a GP case that for some reason had been repaired with 6mm threads on the exhaust mounting and it was never an issue.

I've had 2 Tv 200 and before I modified the case for the underside bracket the main bracket's use to split and the weld between the box and tail pipe use to crack

I’ve a Bgm mk1 clubby on my S2 using original 6mm hanger studs, never had an issue even without the underneath bracket n bolt not fitted ;)
