Which Carburettor

Postby clintcd » Fri Aug 21, 2020 9:33 am

I have rebuild the engine and gearbox for a series 3 Li150 (1964), it came with a SH2 22 dellorto carburetor which is in poor condition. Can anyone tell me which carburetor I should replace it with, the scooter will be a sunday driver only but I would like something reliable.

Personally I would clean up what you have. Lots of alternatives. If you are running it as a standard 150 keep it standard. if you go the Delorto route stick to a 25mm max and keep it through the airbox filter.

A replacement copy of the SH22 is available from Scootopia. It is better quality than the Jetex copies of the same Dell'orto originals and a reasonable price. It will also fit onto your existing manifold,

The Li 150 came as standard with a Dellorto SH1/18 and, imho, is better suited to the Li 150 barrel than the SH2/22 that you have fitted currently. You will need, however, a different manifold, one suitable for the 18/20mm carburettor. Getting a good SH1/18 carb may prove difficult as they are no longer produced (although a local Notts dealer has some NOS carb bodies). Scootopia do have new SH1/20 mm carbs which would work on the Li 150 barrel but you may have to do a bit of fiddling with the jetting as the Li barrel never had the 20mm carb fitted, although the SX 150 barrel did. :)
