Sorting through my spare engine cases , looking for a suitable candidate to build the Quattrini or similar.
Never noticed before but have a particular chaincase stamped in two places with differing numbers (1st place Normal position, and 2nd place on the r/h side engine mount slope),and curious as to its origin of manufacture. The cylinder head is marked 150 but no CC identification on the case.
Would appreciate some info …...Attached photos.

I had a similar stamp along the engine mount like yours, I believe my casing was Indian, I’ll have too a root in the batcave and see if I can find it .

Shocking stamping that, some of the worst i've seen and without a doubt, Indian.

I had a engine mount ref. no. stamp on a TS1 200 that I believe was a Taffspeed ref?
could be wrong.........

Gents, thanks for the replies and obviously accept this was not Italian made (despite the Innocenti Logo ), but if narrowing it down ,can it be confirmed that there were no other licensed countries other than India and Spain producing engine castings?
If there were no others and it is indeed Indian is it possible by the serial number to roughly date its manufacture? ie more specific than 1959-1972.
Regardless of any further info,( which would be welcome) , I'm researching our forums for reports for a suitable upgrade kit using this small bore casing.
Particular considerations are : Pulling power, capability to improve on the standard hill climbing performance two up,but not high top end speed (60 + mph great).
MPG, endurance /range for standard capacity fuel tank. Reliability, and overall cost including matching components ,ie exhaust ,carburettor ,clutch etc.
I'm imagining a mix match of parts ,the recipe of which has already been discovered.So pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Indian engine No's are a mystery to me and mean nothing specific. One like that is so bad and with no prefix, I would say absolutely no chance of identifying it.

Thanks Rich for possibly the definitive answer to Indian engine manufacture identity.
Also thanks for the reminder of method to attach photos.Very useful.Perhaps the FAQ column could include this guidance as I don't see it featured.

ULC soulagent...... "curry burner".... It all adds up now as I should of got the hint when I was draining the sludge out of the chaincase, for I detected the distinct aromatic blend of spices that provides an intense heat for a taste typical of the Madras region.!

5 ribs - definitely Indian.
