pipes n leeks

Postby lam1962brettagg » Tue May 11, 2021 4:44 pm

Hi all,
just had a new cylinder and exhaust fitted and getting a large amount of oil leaking from cylinder/downpipe joint.
Ive tightened the brass nuts as much as I can or dare seems to be worse on the easier one to get to.
is this oil leak to be expected? and will it be causing an air leak?
bit concerned because its a brand new alloy cylinder and piston, so running it in at the mo.
any advice welcome.
cheers

No, that is not right and it will be causing an air leak. Any chance of you uploading a picture?

Take the exhaust off, noting whether one or more of the mounting points is pulling it away from the exhaust manifold. Make a specific mental note of where, ie. which side, the leak is coming from. Is the mating surface on the exhaust flat?

The subject has been extensively covered before, but currently Danbretta is going through a similar issue.

You must have missed his Post, so it would be best you catch up here:

What you take the manifold off check that it’s flat.
