GP taper flywheel recommendations

Postby Knowledge » Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:30 pm

Can anyone recommend a supplier of a Mid-weight GP taper flywheel? Six pole electronic ignition.

Who makes the flywheels? What do you get for your money?

Asking for a friend (honest).

Alternatively, has anyone got a spare that that might wish to sell to my friend?

Im a big fan of genuine SIL, lightened to mid weight and the boss welded.
Last one i did i maintained the longer fins, but usually they are done to standard height.
Fitted to all my TS1s and have been spot on...all with genuine SIL starters (checked and rewired).
Also done the same a few engines ive ive built for others and they have been fine.
Got one lined up for a 185 im doing.
Never had any issue timing them with a disc either.
I think club shop might have one.

Beat me to it Gary.

Yes Martin, I'm 99% certain I still have a GP Taper SIL 2KG Flywheel (shortened fins) in one of the Club Shop boxes in the garage. I'm also sure I have a Std SIL Flywheel (3KG) if you want to arrange to lighten this to your desired weight?

Let me know and I'll have a ratch in the boxes (as it's been a while since I've needed to look in them).

BGM: 2kg, one-piece, balanced, improved cooling and German-made. IMHO the best flywheel you can get for a 6-pole set up.
