Hi All .. after your thoughts

Standard TS1 ran for years always been reliable. After crank break down, fitted new crank , piston and rings , new bearings all the usual while in there . Squish 1.2 good compression ratio , timing set 17’ , air leak tested .

But just won’t run right , almost like 4 stroking , spluttering at 55/60 , it’s the same jetting, so tried few combinations from previous years which made no difference!

Engine out again !! checked over everything , just not the same bike, at bit lose end what try next !.

What's the engine spec' ? ignition, carb', exhaust, etc.

If it's a TMX carb i had issues with the fixed atomizer and had to fit a larger needle and re-jet

It’s all as it was before: nothings changed … Running VHSH 30 .. tried different atomiser needles from previous as stated
It’s Bizzare … next move possibly try new slide !

Good idea to check your pickup hieght, could have changed with the crank replacement

Maybe….when it was originally set you had a minor air leak that you didn’t know about and it was over jetted to compensate, now it been sealed better you need to re-jet ?

Had you thought about the carb itself being worn? You have said the scoot has done many miles. I had a similar problem (as we always say) and after many different things changed/tried a new carb fitted and problem sorted.

Have you checked your timing marks still line up after fitting the new crank?

Right ok .. seemed to be ignition which is strange as it was new stator, changed it now runs better !
However now sitting at 1/4 to half throttle like it’s fourstroking .. hold it at half throttle while it gain speeds it clears
Something seems not right . I’m nervous to go any leaner TS1 on DQ264 with k21 top clip vhsh Nk road.

Personally I would check your head gasket if you are running one

Heads can still leak without a gasket, I had this on my TS1 on a ride to a rally a few years ago, engine started getting boggy mid throttle so checked plug when I got there and sure enouggh the plug was black and sooty. I lowered the needle and it improved a lot but on the ride back it blew a hole in the piston  It was obvious when I looked closer as the re were oily deposits around the head/cylinder joint
Its possible to compensate for small leaks without knowing when setting your jetting which is why doing a leak down test is vital. It would be a good idea to do one before doing anything else as you could be cjasing your tail :?
