Series 1/2 air scoop

Postby citydaz » Mon Nov 29, 2021 10:44 pm

Hi all,

just wondering if a series 1/2 air scoop would fit on a GP?

Cheers

I can't see why not. A series 3 scoop fits on series 2 and I can't imagine any reason why the opposite wouldn't fit.

I'm not an expert but will that not restrict the airflow.
What carburettor set up are you using?

I have a S1/2 air scoop on a GP. It fits fine. I would add that I have a big air filter protruding from the sidepanel though :D

Thanks for the responses.
Im putting a GP scoop on each side panel with a hole for air flow just behind the grilles.
Wasnt going to fit a GP scoop under the seat as there isnt enough head room under my Rimini sport seat, even with the thinner type of series 3 scoop.
Was planning to use a series 1 scoop from India as they appear to be less high.
not using the airbox.

There are replica glass fibre air filter scoops available. I would suggest that linishing the base of one would reduce the height in no time.....

If your quest for more air is for cooling, you can source small 12 v fans (PC cooling type) to drag the air in. Don't forget that any additional air needs to have an exit as well, hence the holes/cut-outs on scoop cooled full frame Lambrettas that race. A RH panel often will have been cut for a rear set brake even though the pedal may be in the conventional position. Then there is the Serveta tool box lid, highly sought after....

I purchased a Rimini sports seat and had the same problem.
I fitted one of these which just allows the seat to lock in place.

If its under the seat why not just leave it off? Then you have a handy hole to rest a 2 stroke mix jug in

I have bought a series 1/2 scoop from india for £7.
If it fits great, if not i will fettle it down to 25mm in height, which is the head room, by cutting it at an angle then then placing a rubber packer at the back behind the holes.
If it does not work then in the bin it goes!

Air scoop arrived from Delhi just before Christmas.
Fits fine under the seat and the holes are in alignment (just!) - problem solved. :D
