TV series 1/2 fork links

I keep hearing that the racing fraternity like these links, though I don't know why. I would have thought raising the front end makes a bike slower to turn, so it puzzles me why a racer would want that experience, would have thought it better in a race to have a quicker steering bike.
Sticky book says they can help with clearance on hydraulic hubs... is there any other reason why you'd want them on a road bike?
