Hi all
Just looking at my second project done the Spl now & can’t decide on which series 2 model. I know the 150 is more powerful, has rubber runners 2 seats & more were manufactured, but what’s behind the crankcase cover that I should know about? All comments gratefully received.

Are you asking “what is the difference between an SII 125 and an SII 150” or “should I acquire a SII 115 or an SII 150”?

Your wording is unclear (to me, at least).

PS The difference in power output of a 125 and a 150 is not as great as the difference between a 150 and the power of a 185/6. I would not ride a 125 or 150 in today’s traffic. A 185 or 186 would be much safer and more fun.

With the amount of kits on the market now, it really doesn’t matter everything can be upgraded with the right amount of disposable cash.

Basically the only differences are the gearbox ratio's, the barrel/piston/and Head,and the smaller 18mm carb.
In my opinion the 150 gearbox is the better of the two regarding the gear ratio's,especially if you are considering fitting a kit of some sort.
Personally,i have always wondered why the 125 was so popular,as i have always found Li 125 cc Lambrettas pitifully slow and gutless!

To be honest - unless you are trying to undertake a 1:1 restoration or a rusteration / then theres no materal difference that isnt easily changed as part of the renovation.

As other people have said - adding a kit (and other necessary bits) makes the scooter far more usable.

The key decision is down to your future plans:-
- if you plan to sell it - then a 125 - makes it accesible for those who haven't passed their test.
- If you are keeping it - then a 150 - for the gearbox (which makes it 1 less thing to sort out)
