front damper advice

Postby rumiman » Mon Apr 04, 2022 9:11 pm

for a non lambretta "moto rumi" i am using lambretta front dampers, i am trying to find which ones have the lowest damping affect, fat escorts have been tried but are over-damping for my needs, strange request i know but i want the "shitest" ones available, thanks in advance graham fisher,

My thoughts are that there were conversion damper kits available once specifically for attachment via special axle nuts, rather than 175/200 damper links that should have therefore not only had greater travel but less damping affect. That said, I have only ever seen them fitted once so conclude that they are rarer than an honest Tory.....

However.......most of us have surely encountered dampers that have failed & dismantled them purely out of curiosity, or is it just me? :!: Rheotorical question, as I do know of a guy that repaired a pair by managing to fix leaking seals.

In which case, with care, I reckon a pair of dampers can be refurbished which also allows for a change in oil weight, in your case the choice being a lighter grade.

I've got some old ones with no oil in........ they have really low damping effect.
