Original TV175 S3 with original piston running at 50/1 without any problem.

What sort of riding are you doing ?, bit of a difference to pottering round town to long motorway drives.

I also run at 50/1 but it's worth checking your crank as that can be a failing with lack of lubrication

Running regular semi synthetic. Long runs no problem as long as it’s jetted correctly and there are no air leaks. There was an old article from the 60’s mentioning that 33/1 was okay for Lambretta’s and that would have been with mineral oil.

I started running less oil because I stripped down another engine that was running 25/1 and it was coked up.

It’s just been an experiment on the old TV as it has so many miles on its 60 year old life, and if I need a new piston and rebore that’s fair enough for me.
