Is a series 2 frame the same as series 3 in that all three struts should line up?

I've just re fitted my legshields or I'd check. But they must do, because the floor and footboards are in line and they all have the same thickness rubber underneath.

I was thinking exactly the same, the leggies and runners are completely flat so would need the struts to be on the same level ;)

I thought the front strut rubber washers were thicker like on a Vega. Is that not the case?

I have binned the old ones now.

I rebuilt a Spanish Series 2 several years back and I think they had thicker ones up front. Then again, I may well be wrong.

The front strut rubber buffers are approximately ~8mm thick. As far as I know no one makes them. There are good pictures in Scooter Nova #26 of Dean Orton making a set for a TV/2 rustoration.

Thanks for that. I have just read the article and, yes, according to Dean, the two thicknesses originally were 3mm and 8mm at the front. I suspect I must have just doubled up on the remade 4mm ones when I rebuilt the Spanish S2.

This gets me back to the original question as to whether the struts should be in line. I now suspect not.

If you can wait until Saturday I'll do a deep dive under the bench and check on my Winter model ;)

Screwfix do a kit of various rubber tap washers which can be very useful for this kind of situation!

I’ve spent an hour or so with the frame, runners and leggies. I now conclude that all three struts should be inline. A few swings of the lump hammer and lots of measuring later and it’s going back in the garage ready for a dry build next month.

I was overthinking the issue with the differing thicknesses of rubber washers.
