I have a 5 plate clutch, original style. Does anyone know what the 5 cork plate thickness should be to determine wear ? Thanks

It's difficult to state an absolute minimum as 5 plate clutches are all different.

For example, if you use different steels, then the minimum thickness varies. The same is true if you use different springs, different gearbox or your motor produces different torque.

So the best way to tell, in my opinion, is that if it slips under load up and incline, they're goosed.

Sorry for half-arsed answer.

Thanks for the replies. The surflex logo embossed on the corks is really crisp, no wear, so thats what Im judging them by, in good knick. :D

when I check mine I refer to the old method of if a 13mm open ended spanner fits over the combined cork plates only then bin 'em, but prefer a 14mm, if that's slack then bin or replace
