I have got an Italian ratio Li150 gearbox of unknown provenance where every gear and the Xmas tree is marked with a hand etched letter J about 3mm high which has a little box etched around it. Anybody got any ideas if this is original or one of the recent remade ones?

I took a set out of an early LI series 1 engine and they had an etched or scribed J on each gear same as you describe.

Not sure what it means, just that I've seen the same.

I have an early S2 Li150 gearbox with the 'J' (Innocenti) mark.

They are in fact very common markings, particularly on LI 150 Gear boxes

Thanks for all your replies. I shall now quite happily fit it in my TS1

It's on several of my cogs but never seen a box with it on all of them.
