Reproduction Front Disc Brake

Postby Cosmic Wizard » Sun Dec 10, 2017 11:21 am

Good morning all.

Has anyone bought and fitted the reproduction SX/TV front inboard disc brake?

I'm looking at buying one, but would like to know if it's worth buying, or shall I try and find an Innocenti unit and rebuild it?

Thanks in advance.

From experience, the repro one can need more fettling time than it takes to rebuild an original and they are not much cheaper .

I would go for an original one

Agree totally, I would try and source an original and as Mr Angry says, not much difference in cost

I would try an original if you can find one, however I have an ScootRS repro on my S2 and it works a treat. Use sintered pads and a reverse pull. Excellent stopper.

I recall that the levers need checking on repro's or replacing with an original lever.

I too have the ScootRS with sintered pads, no issues and well made and it's new. Fitted very easy. Considering reverse pull.

There is an Italian, Tino Sacchi??, reproduction version. Armandos, amongst others, sell it. I have no personal experience of one but, given the ScootRS one is no longer being remade, this may be your only option to an original.

Yes the spring on the actuating lever is not as strong as on original campagnolo ones , scootRS did modify theirs but originals are better if you can get hold of one

From memory I thing Scootopia also do a brake cam upgrade, but I've never needed it on the ScootRS one I have. Just got another one from EBay for the S1 rebuild.
