Tick-over Revs?

Postby davla » Sat Jan 20, 2018 12:31 am

Was wondering roughly what are the revs at slow tickover?

Really depends upon what weight flywheel you are using. Heavy flywheels have inertia and therefore momentum when rotating and can usually tick over slower that a light flywheel. On my rev counter depending upon duifferent flywheels Ive ranged from 1250 rpm up to around 1850 rpm to maintain steady tickover. Other factors apply too, how rich at bottom end (if too rich and lumpy it normally requires a faster tickover to compensate for example) is one.

Yep I agree. I doubt you'll get one below 750 rpm.

Cheers for that. I’ve just fitted a Smiths mechanic rev counter and it’s showing just over 1k at tickover so sounds ok, I haven’t had a chance to take it out for a spin yet.
