Sluggish take up Vega

Had problems with sluggish take up. Open the throttle and takes a while to pick up revs, but eventually does.

So replaced original Dellorto Sh1/20 with a new Scootopia variant and the same problem persists.

Have tried all sorts of different settings with fuel mixture, but makes no difference.

Anybody any thoughts?

have you had your top end in bits to check piston & rings tolerances?

Vegas like revs. I quickly discovered that the fairly gentle actions on the throttle that I did with my other Lambrettas, got nowhere with the Vega. Whacking the throttle to wide open as quickly as possible, then changing up is needed to keep it in the power band.

That may not be your issue but it is worth considering :D

As has been said, having a look at the top end would be a good idea, as would a leak down test.

Yes good point but don’t think that’s the issue

I have heard that some of the aftermarket air filters that fit inside the airbox are quite restrictive.

Is it original points and, if so, have you checked that they are opening at the right time, the gap is right and they are not pitted?

I’d probably take the exhaust off and try and see if it is blocked. They are complicated inside, assuming it is an original, but prodding around inside with a knitting needle may give you an idea.

I have a Vega specific air leak kit you could borrow.
