Original Vega seat?

Postby Storkfoot » Sun Mar 15, 2015 5:38 pm

Please excuse my ignorance of Luna matters but is this an original Vega seat?

I'm asking as I want to know whether it's worth lavishing a bit of love and attention on. The hinge is badly seized at the front and the tin worm has got to the sides.

Thanks.

AfAndy, apologies for not thanking you for your reply one year ago

On the basis that it is original I got a mate to try and make it usable again (when the cover came off, it was very badly rusted around the edge).

Anyway, in the true spirit of trying to re-constitute original stuff:

No worries .. I don't come on here as often as I used to ...busy life eh! ..Glad to see your saving it ...I have a spare seat in really good condition ...and where your hinge was siezed....mines broken off ...just hope the pin or bar might be able to be removed and replaced ....

Thankfully, lots of heat and penetrating oil released the hinge eventually. Good luck :-)

I have just dared to have this blasted prior to painting. Unsurprisingly, there's a fair bit of daylight showing through now :)

Am I correct in thinking that this is still a Vega part that has not been remade?

I'll take some pictures of mine which is also sans cover at the weekend for comparison.

I'm no expert by any means but believe Vega seat bases are the proverbial hens teeth! I'm not aware of these being remade (yet). You can get new covers however so if you can sort out the metal work, you'll be cool!

That's what I thought, to be honest. Seems odd that they haven't been remade as indeed the exhausts haven't :?

Col, yes, I'd be interested in a picture of yours as there do seem to me to be differing versions.

I've heard they are on the way but who knows when

As Mickey said the bases are like hens teeth but the covers are available for £60 ish

There was a seat base on Rimini recently for £700 !

If they have, they are keeping it a very closely guarded secret!
