1955 ld

Postby Rushlewin » Thu Jul 19, 2018 7:05 pm

Just thought I would say hi

I acquired this old Ld as a basket case, I haven’t had a lambretta since about 1968 an Li150
Anyway I am nearing completion just the fiddly to do,
Really annoying that there is so little information on this model been trying to get the small trunnions that go into the gear change cables on the engine. And the correct speedo cable the ones I can get won’t fit on the engine.
And the clutch cable end on the engine
And where can I get the little oval screw that adjusts the points.
Anyway rant over.

As well as Scooter Surgery:

SPEEDO - For the speedo, do you have a problem with the length of the cable? If yes, have you looked at these two cables. The good thing with Scooter Center is the website lists the specification of the part in a number of cases, so you can review what you need:
https://www.scooter-center.com/en/86600 ... o-on-frame
https://www.scooter-center.com/en/76741 ... tta-speedo

I’m wondering if you may have a 1957 cable which is a little longer?

TRUNNIONS - For trunnions in general, as well as searching online at Scooter Center, some useful links that I suspect you may have already seen are:
http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... -controls/
http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... allen-key/
http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... allen-key/

POINTS SCREW - This may be the points screw and washer your after?
http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... int-screw/
http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... ts-washer/

Other options: If you search online for “Lambretta 150D LD Spare Parts Catalogue” – download the PDF and review the image and part number of the part you need and search online, adding "Lambretta 123456 - 123" for example, I sometimes find parts that way..

Sources and shops I buy my parts from can be found below. Sometimes I source Li parts that fit, so you don't always find the parts your looking for in the LD shop / section!

Thanks for your advice, I have tried most of these places, will keep looking,
The speedo cable is in hand and should be resolved,
How have others resolved replacing gear and clutch cables, I have no idea how this part was originally as it was all missing
When I got it.

Hi

Please review the following videos which may help:

Gear Cable Install and Information:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilDUIFyu_3U&t=11s

The Gear Cable video above also has the list of part numbers (But no image). If you enter a part number in a search browser (for example and add Lambretta to it - "Lambretta 07770303") you will see places that you may be able to purchase a missing part. Some of the websites also show images of all the parts I have listed that have numbers on the image that correspond to the part number you need.

Two kits (Depending on handle bar - yours should be a steel) search online for these references:
Lambretta TL13100 (This is for a steel handlebar)
Lambretta TL13105 (This is for later models with aluminium handle bars)

These kits are missing this part "Lambretta 06770304" . However, you can make one of these up by drilling a hole in a bolt that fits.

There are a number of scooter parts suppliers that also hold the complete kits in stock, which includes the inner and outer sleeve part as well, that you may want to review costs if buying and depending on what parts your missing.

Review the bar / spacers and ensure you order the correct ones, otherwise you will have an amount of "play" when moving the lever. You may need oversized ones in this area (Example - Search online for Lambretta 07770301/2)

If you still have issues securing the cable itself, you may need to look at soldering the cable onto a custom bolt you make to fit into the bronze sleeve (See video), if you cant find the part 06770304

A Clutch Cable Install and information can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UDA7bsCbUQ

I hope that this is of further help.

All the best.................
