D125 transmission oil

Hi, I need some help with the transmission oil in my 1952 d125. I cannot see any way of draining the oil or refilling it. I recently removed the circular plate towards the back of the transmission case and oil came out. Is there a filler above this which I cannot see or was the oil overfilled at the time the engine was put together?
The only other access to this area that I can see is the square plate at the end of the transmission case. Am I missing something?
Help please!
Thanks in advance.

The link below shows you where to drain, fill and check the gearbox level on a 150D. I think the 125D is similar. The level plug is "F" which is right above "Fig. 10". It's under the engine but it is a passage that opens up inside the engine at the correct level. Fill until it starts running out.

Thanks for the info JB. I assume therefore that the gearbox and transmission oil are one and the same.
Cheers

Yes, transmission and gearbox are the same thing. The final drive uses different oil though, 250 weight gear oil is specified.

Not sure what is meant by 250 weight gear oil - in the UK, the final drive oil is specified as SAE 140 EP.

Sorry, going off memory again, always a bad idea at my age. 140 is correct.

No problem, I just wondered if the earlier 125 models used anything different. I know the C/LC models used grease in the final drive, which is a bit like treacle...

Memory? In my case, if it's not written down or photographed, it never happened! :?

It's called semi-fluid grease and is commonly used in industrial gearboxes and steering boxes. It's also a good option if you have a leaking issues.
