What model?

In the dim and distant past I bought an ld125 in boxes to fix. I never fixed it properly as I was 16 and clueless.

The side panels had a carb access door on the right but the rear vents were the banana shape rather than two round ones. Also had the Speedo in a binnacle on the back of the steering column; this binnacle had a hook for bag etc on it.

I've never seen another like that. Does anyone have any idea what it was?

The panel with the access door and larger banana-shaped vent sounds a bit odd, but the last of the Mk1 Ld125s had the larger vent with the carb access door, but for 1953 & 1954 only. Not sure about the binnacle & luggage hook, but those could possibly have been aftermarket items. Remember that the 125 machines didn't need a speedo in Italy, so there might have been various methods used in the UK to attach the speedo to the inside of the legshields.

So, my best guess is it was a 1953 or 1954 Mk1 Ld125!

Thanks. From memory it was 1953. I have a feeling it was French manufacture so maybe that explains the odd panels.
