From what I understand that is pretty standard exclusion. Check with your insurance company as they may offer cover. I get cover included in my policy from Footman James

I have had coverage via Allstyles Insurance (T R Youngs) for my 185cc scooter for a couple of Euro rallies. Usually about £25 for a short trip.

Got mine via Footman James insurance - had to use them last year on the way back from Euro Lam. Got a good service - double check your policy as it might be included??

AA have been doing that for years now and that's the reason I left them permanently too!

I argued the point that classic bike owners were more likely to maintain their own bikes and be able to do most roadside fixes but it was all to no avail.

FJ for breakdown euro side and as a preference I'd use auto aid the UK side (as they are far quicker to turn up!).

I have my cover with allstyles (TR Young's), but when i just phoned to check, they said they don't offer European breakdown cover.
They did tell me that they had to advise the insurance company of the dates that i would be out of the country to ensure i was covered!
