I am one of several UK riders going to this first Lambretta Desert Endurance Rally, the event is being put on by a Spanish group. As my wife is Spanish she has been in contact with the organisers and has ended up as the unofficial interpreter.

Ferran Silva (the organiser) has a few more places if anyone is interested. I know this is short notice but is anyone is interested but if you pm me I'll put you in touch.

The key points are the entrance fee of 1250 Euro's and you and your Lambretta need to be in Tarifa Southern Spain on 3rd November THIS YEAR. You will be away for 10 days and then have to make your way home.

They plan this for an annual event so if you are interested for next year they are already taking deposits. I'll do a write up in Jetset when I get back so you can see what it's like.

Jim
Is this the same or similar event organisers to the one Sticky did a few years ago? I'm interested in doing this kind of thing but not this year, as like you say it's a bit short notice. Look forward to your Jetset write up.

The organiser, Feran Silva, was involved with the one Sticky did but has set up another trip aimed more at Lambretta than Vespa. I'll let everyone know via Jetset on how we do. My wife (who is Spanish) has been recruited as the interpreter so no language problems either! This is planned as an annual event so next year Gareth?

Maybe Jim, I'll wait to see your write up to make sure it's for me. Which scooter are you doing it on? Any specific off road modifications ?

If you send me a pm i'll send you a copy of the rules and regulations.

Engine on my bike is a massano case a 225 mugello top end ancilloto pipe and 30mm del. Lth clutch and an indian gp 200 gearbox all new. Others are using pretty standard machines Seveta's but mine is a mongrel of a Series 1 that I am lifting off the ground a bit by extending the forks a couple of inches adapting the frame and lowering the top shock mount so the exhaust twists higher. I'm casing rust around the loop with a mig at the moment to make sure it's strong enough still.

Putting carb air and air for cooling through a plenum to try and keep the sand out.

Pictures will be on facebook and jetset in due course

That Jetset report will be fascinating. Love to see the prep photos if you get a chance.

Sounds interesting for sure - I love these different events (as opposed to siting in a seaside pub all weekend).

Well on with the bike mods and the engine is ready to fit. Thanks Jarv (byron). It is a bit of a mongrel as you'd expect!

Of course I will, I'm going to do a write up for Jetset as well but there will be plenty to cover without too much over lap

Keep an eye out for the info as it's going to be a regular event. My wife Pilar is now the translator / interpreter on the team so it may become a regular thing for me. It it does Ill look at organising scooter transport form UK to Southern Spain to cut time off peoples trip

The bike is finished and have been running it around the lanes to get some miles on it and to weed out any design faults.
I forget how good some of the classic kits are, the Mugello 225 pulls like a train with 3rd gear going from 25 - 60 mph with great torque. I doubt I'll be using 4th much!
I set off on Wednesday with Martin Robinson Sid Hopper and Pilar on Wednesday next week which gives me time to pop to Brid and put "Essence of Lambretta" in the show.
