Evening all,
This will be an ongoing thread of the recommissioning of my Fat Lass. She was bought from Marco & Steve at Scooter Emporium on the 8th June this year. I've had a Series 1 itch for a while, so I decided to scratch it Plus it's my 40th this year, so decided to treat myself. She's completely untouched and original, apart from the Series 2 forks and front hub assembly and also the brake light switch - see the pics for this superb piece of engineering She is also a non-runner, but not siezed.
I'm currently waiting for the DVLA to register her and I've done some shopping already, so updates should be very regular.
The first job to tackle is the stand retainer plate which has snapped off from the cross-member.
Time for some pics
Enjoy.
The day of purchase:
Nice Club Lambretta sticker:
Out in the sunshine:
Remains of a speedo:
Nice hook for my shopping bag:
Sadly the rear carrier has seen better days:
Offside panel removed:
Nice period Italian engineering :
Nearside panel removed:
Stand retainer plate just hanging about:
Horncast removal:
Fortunately all but one bolt came out:
Brake pedal removal:
And off:
Legshield removed:
A better look at the broken plate:
Metal cleaned and new stand offered-up to line up brackets:
Splash plate fitted:
Bracket clamped into position. NOTE: this was the first attempt which failed. I drilled the holes too small and didn't get any weld through to the cross-member :
As Shalamar once said - "The Second Time Around". Milled the welds down and made new larger holes:
And done! Decided to weld the sides of the plate too. Thank god for die-grinders and stopper. They make me the welder I ain't lol Just covered it with some etch primer and laquered it for now:
New stand, feet and spring fitted:
While I'm down here, I thought I'd sort out this sheared off grease nipple:
Drilled out with a 5mm twist drill, then re-tapped 6x1.0mm:
Tightened my nipple - Nice! :
That's all for now.
Cheers
Jim
