My ride - '71 GP150

Postby bennn » Wed Feb 10, 2021 9:39 pm

Thought it was about time I uploaded a couple of pics of my GP.

Been on here a while but never got around to putting some up. It's not technically my first Lambretta, but the first one I've rebuilt!

How I got it:

When I'd finished:

Got a few more of it mid-build but they're not very interesting are they?

It's got a fair few marks on the paintwork and stuff now, but tis a ridden scooter so!

Thanks for reading my ramblings, Ben.

Ps Ben, while not denying your impeccable taste in matters Lambretta, what is your favoured hose attachment? ;)

I concur with you Covboy. What was the reasoning behind the change of front brake? It looked pretty good before, so what does the new brake do better than the old?

Thanks for the kind words so far chaps, appreciated!

Covboy it came to me with Spanish Li125 casing and unknown cast top end - presumably original 125 judging by the tiny carburettor and how it rode.

Engine wise it was completely stripped, vapor blasted, powder coated and rebuilt using Indian GP200 gearing, AF cassette clutch, Indian GP taper crank webs with 116 Yam rod and RB200 top end. Finished off with Mikuni TMX35 carb and CST 'fast road' pipe for the RB. Long range Oiltek fuel tank, Spaq anti dive disc brake and BGM suspension front and back to help it handle/stop better and not call in at every petrol station.

Knowledge the one that came on it was a bastardised PX/Grimeca combo that was welded/bolted together and didn't look too clever - it can be seen if you zoom in on the pictures. So I opted to go for the Spaq anti dive setup instead, not necessarily better, just different. I might till have it in the back of the garage somewhere.

That does look very nice. I wouldn't have been unhappy with the first paint job :-)
