I wish i had kept hold of all or even some of the scooters that have passed through my hands over the years,

Haha! Me too! At one stage I did keep everything, when the fleet numbered 14 and I didn't have any space left, the thinning out started. All sold for what seems like peanuts nowadays!

The old bitsa doesn't look too bad superficially -

It's never had a chrome ring under the headset - was broken off before my ownership. Might get round to fitting the shiny new one that's been sitting on a shelf for years one day!

A closer look reveals a bit of rustiness slowly creeping through it -

I've been threatening to restore this for the last 3-4 years, hopefully this year it'll be getting done. I quite fancy going back to the blue colour it was painted in 1990 - Ford Escort cabriolet blue whatever that's name is. :D

8-) 8-) Found a couple of pics of my early nineties fleet - this Jet 200 was bought from Horner's and fitted with some spare Sx200 panels (don't have spares like that any more!) Was bog standard, and didn't need any work done to it at all. Can't even remember selling this - DVLA enquiry shows it as not being taxed since 1992 - that was when it was sold!

This was bought from Horner's as a LI125. Still have the bill of sale - frame number is SX150 reg'd BPC 28H. It had a 200cc motor in it as well as a perfect SX mudguard which went on my SX 200. It was rebuilt and painted after being fitted with many parts from my LI150 bitsa when it went from blue to green in 1993. Got a fair bit of use out of it until the frame tube broke in two whilst riding through Altrincham in 1994. Was folded up and brought home in a Fiesta! Here it is before it broke -

Was recycled soon afterwards!

Got these out today - not been out for a few weeks, but reminded me why I'll never be without them!

Lovely scoots mate.

What shade of purple did you use on the SX200? I'm looking at Amaranth Purple as the secondary colours on my TV200 resto and yours looks pretty similar.

Certainly is.
Made me think about painting mine simply the one white instead of adding colour!

yeah that looks gurt lush :D :D

I think all white looks nicely understated and its easy to add a little bit of colour theming if you want like coloured plastic grips and foot pedal rubber etc .I think maybe a little bit of chrome wouldn't detract either like a discrete sprint rack or a small embellisher to break up that huge expanse of plain front mudguard maybe dare I suggest a sticker or badge ?

It just needs something to personalise it really ;)

Many thanks for the positive comments! I know what you mean about personalising it, but with the other scoots being modified/non standard, I like the purity of plain white bog standardness that the TV200 has.

Not entirely sure yet chief, at the moment I'm thinking of going back to the blue it sported back in 1990. 8-)

Been sorting through the pile of bits that used to be my bitsa over the weekend - it doesn't look so pretty in this state! The first job on the list is to get the headlight rim threads repaired - only one of the four still contains any threads.
I'm undecided as to whether I'm gonna paint it myself, or pay someone to paint it for me. To paint it myself to a good standard will take a ridiculous amount of time, hence consideration of taking the easy (but more expensive) way out. I don't want to be waiting a year for it like I did with my SX, so I'm thinking of taking it to a shop that paints scooters regularly. If anyone can recommend somewhere in the Northwest that does a good job for a fair price, I'd be most grateful.

Cheers, Steve

Gary at M and M

Fast Eddie paints

To name two.

Geoff at Zoot scoot is a good painter, but sadly I think he's called it a day.
