Wow.
I'd have given up at the first hurdle I'm afraid.
Lovely sound once she fired up, excellent work.

Thank you all :)

I would like to apologise for the lack of posting, just work, a Honda Chaly engine build and a bit of misfortune has got in the way.

I went out with my mate and his LI125 (the other engine build I posted) a couple of months back, and both engines performed beautifully. We met a few other scooters at Blackheath and we all rode up to Carnaby Street. I did have some clutch cable problems which were down to a slipping cable trunnion, but apart from that, all was good.

I have some video of the ride which I'll be editing soon and I'll post it up when it's done.

Stay tuned for another renovation thread as I've decided to cheer myself up with another purchase. All will be revealed in the next couple of weeks ;)

Take it easy
Jim

I enjoyed your engine strip down and re build. Is your compression a bit on the high side as I see you struggling to kick her over.

Blimey! Just getting the top end off was a mammoth task  now sit back and enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the replies guys :D

@ citydaz
Thanks mate

@ kennystag
Thanks mate, there's nothing I like more than rebuilding engines and spanner-twiddling in general.
Regarding your question about compression, it does look like that, but no, it's all normal. The week before fitting the engine, it was freezing and on the day I chose to fit it, it was snowing lol   It was just cold and very grumpy. It will now start on the first or second kick 8-)

@ Solid Air
Thanks, it certainly was. I've never worked on an engine that was so badly seized & corroded.

@ Andy B.L.C
I've done a few miles on it and it goes rather well I think. The lightened flywheel certainly makes a difference.
I think you're going to like my next project ;)
