Cleaning remote air filters

Can you get away with cleaning foam filters (RAM) with just hot water and detergent?

I think they need re oiling or some kind of treatment applying, so am wondering what's best way t do this? Been riding years and never thought about this one !!!!

Yep.... Soap and water.
Rinse.
Wring.
Refit.
No need to oil it. The spit back will do that.

You cant really apply a time-frame to this.
Just use best judgment based on your circumstances.
