Is there anywhere or anyone that I can send my speedometer to, to get it calibrated.
Checked against a gps Speedo that I strapped to my scooter, reading 8 to 10 mph out, slower.
Steady reading with no needle bounce.

The only way I know to adjust these is to hold the spindle with a fine pair of snipe noses pliers, carefully pull the needle off its spindle, move it around a little to where you think it needs to be and place it back on.
Don't expect them to be accurate throughout the clock range thou.... They never were that good.

I have long since given up on traditional Lambretta speedos.

The SIP speedo with magnetic pick-up can be calibrated to perform well, or many people use Garmin GPS strapped to the handlebars as the full-time alternative to the original.

Sorry if the answer disappoints, especially if you were looking for an authentic speedo to perform accurately.

On the subject of incorrect speedometers i have noticed that the difference between the reading on my GPS and that on hire cars i use regularly for work can vary between 2 mph to 6 mph, and that the gap changes at different speeds. The 6mph difference was on a jaguar.
What chance do we have on 40 year old scoots!

I watched him do one of mine. He uses an electric motor that he has worked out the speed of and connects it to the speedo. Then adjusts the needle as rossclark suggests.

Yes, i know by law they have to be, but i was really surprised by how much.
That explains why so many cars overtake me when im doing the mandatory 40mph average speed on the A14!

Speedo's naturally become more and more inaccurate with respect to tyre wear.
Remember the chav that fitted low profile tyres to his Corsa and it instantly went 10mph faster. Somebody got good value that day eh?

Most car speedo under read so say they are doing 50mph when in fact they are actually doing 46/47 mph. I know this as when I’m doing 50 mph in my truck which is calibrated I’ll sail on by but most frustrating when they hog the middle lane overtaking nothing
