Just chiseled , v carefully, the stripes off a set of GP panels. So what now?! Blagged some T Cut but somehow reckon that the durty slug trail of glue needs to be dumped first.... Any ideas? Thanx!

The best way to remove old glue is with oil or grease. Over time the plasticisers in the sticker leach into the glue. This is why when you remove old insulating tape it feels brittle and the glue very icky.

The problem is using an oil that won't harm your paint. If it's very soft then it'll be be easy; olive oil or wd40 on a cloth. Once you rub the oil in it will pretty much wipe off.

You could try some proprietary "sticky label remover" which is usually citrous based.

The stuff I have leaves a great orange aroma and does a good job.

Cheerz chaps. One of the BLC boys suggested white spirits but I'm instinctively scared... Though surely a 2 pack paint job will be safe, final thoughts? Fanx in advance

He's right honestly. Any oil will do it, but avoid brake fluid obviously.

Based on the info you've received so far I'd go for orange oil.

I use a hair dryer to soften the stick first, and then it often brings more of the glue away with it.

It is about the best use I have for a hair dryer these days.

White Spirit should get it off without harm,

I know this sounds daft, but mayonnaise actually works!
Ive used it before to remove the sticky residue left from price labels on CD cases.

Only dont use it on your sandwiches afterwards!

Doesn't sound daft to me. It's full of vegetable oil.

You are wasting your time with any oil based solution including majic ones like mayo.
Brake cleaner will get it off, easy !

WD40 will shift it. I always use it to remove tape residue.

Glue and tar remover from halfords

Industrial hand wipes or traffic film remover

Thanx to all again for the input! Using what I had to hand... While both WD40 & white spirits did the job, white spirits won, faster & better results...
