From the clip it looks like a TV of some sort by the look of the headset.

The Lambretta used in those opening credits above is a GT and as far as I recall is a publicity shot from the period that the BBC presumably licenced from an image agency. Hopefully attached is the photo in question.
In the actual series of Call the Midwife, they use a MK1/2 LD125 in number of episodes both as static prop and 'ridden' by a number of cast members. Helen George actually did her own riding after we gave her a few lessons and did really well. I think Cliff Parisi rode it too if I remember, but he rides classic motorbikes anyway. I think it was only Pam Ferris who had a double for her 'riding' shots, and close-ups shot on a special low-loader.
