How to make images work/appear on the forums

If you want to make an image appear in a post, try the following.

Firstly, the image you want to insert in to your post MUST be uploaded to the internet somewhere. You cannot make an image appear on the forums from your desktop. It must first be uploaded to the internet.

The best way to do this, is to take the image from your digital camera or from a scan you have done at home and store it on the web using an on-line image host. Almost all internet file hosts are free, all you need to do is sign up with one and create an account. This will give you plenty of space to store your images on-line.

Some common ones are:
http://www.lambretta-images.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://scoot.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://photobucket.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.flickr.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://imageshack.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://tinypic.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.imagehost.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.imgplace.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Once you have a free account, you can follow the instructions on the site you choose to upload your images. The procedure is normally very simple.

Now you have an image which is "live" on the internet.

In order to make this image appear in your posts on this site, your image host will usually provide you with the code. By clicking on your image in your hosting account, you should see a panel that gives the code to copy and paste for use on forums such as this one. If you do use the code from your image hosts, just paste it DIRECTLY in to your post here without clicking any of the image buttons etc. Check that it looks like the code I have given an example of below and it WILL work.

If you prefer, you can simply get the web address of your image from your hosting site. Usually something like this:

http://www.myimagehost.com/myaccount/my ... bretta.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Copy this web address of your image

1. open your post on this forum and click the button on the editor marked "IMG"
2. a set of tags will appear like this
3. click directly in between these tags (where I have made a red line)
4. paste in the web address you copied earlier

The end result should look something like this:
Image

You can repeat this several times to make more than one image appear in the same post. You can also use this method to post images you find already on the web simply by using the web address of an existing image or by finding the web address of an image by right clicking on a web site image and finding the "URL" of the picture.

How to add a picture (avatar) next to your name.

I had a bit of trouble getting my avatar to go on my profile, wouldn't upload from my PC,
so here's how I got it working, hope it helps.

1) Open a free account with photobucket, if the site asks you if you want to go pro just hit "no thanks".

2) Upload an image from your PC,web or mobile phone.

3) When you've got the picture you want on photo bucket hit the edit button at the top left of the picture

4) On the menu tab "basic" the fourth one along is re-size hit that and do the size so that it is 75X75 or 80X80 then hit "save a copy" ( I think 100X100 is the largest you can do as a avatar)

5) You'll then be shown the picture in it's new size on the bottom left you'll see a box with share image, at this stage open a new window with the LCGB site and log into your account,keeping the photobucket one open

6) Go to user control panel,options,then profile,then hit edit avatar.

7) Now go back to the photo bucket page and left click on the direct link and in little box should come up saying copied

8) Go back to the edit avatar page on the LCGB and right click on the link off-site box then hit paste.

9) Hit submit,the page will refresh and say your profile has been updated and there you go picture next to your name.
