VHSH carb pilot jets - with photo

Why are the pilot/idle jets different to PHBH carb?

The idle jets on PHBH are M5 thread and the “body” of the jet is about the same length as the thread. The body of the VHSH carb idle jets are twice the thickness of the thread. Does that make sense?

Does it need to be longer to reach the fuel? Are they interchangeable?

I once asked Eurocarb the same question and didn't get a defining answer although the short ones seem to work fine.I can only guess it's so the longer one in the VHSH sits in the fuel but I haven't compared with a PHBH to confirm.

Thanks Wack.

Did Eurocarb confirm that they sold the long-body jets?

I asked the same question once and was told the short ones were fine. So I’ve had short ones in my VHSH for ever. Runs fine.
