Looking at Cambridge jetting advise your atomiser should be AV268 main 110 pilot 50 starter 50.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rich -- quick 1 & sorry to hijack this but was this set up running open mouthed, remote filter??? I'm helping a boy out with a similar set up, all is the same apart from a 117 main jet but he's running open mouthed. Cheers G

That set up was with a breath sweet filter. I would think 117 main won't be far out open mouthed then!

Thanks Rich, appreciate the quick reply, there was a breath sweet filter on it with a 117 main jet - it just bogged down immediately and flooded the carb, plug was soaking trying to get it out the road end.

As far as flooding & hot start issues, I recently responded to a Post on 'the other Forum' so repeat here in edited form:

Lambrettas with their fully enclosed bodywork have nowhere for the residual engine heat to go, so the carburettor is one area that soaks it up. The carburettor is fairly cold when running due to the process of evaporation, so the fuel remaining in the bowl expands a lot.

Unfortunately the PH has no bowl mounted overflow, There are not even pre-cast mouldings in the bowls to retrofit overflows, unlike the VHB, for example. If anything, the air filter hose may excaperate the issue, being coldish upon stopping, then warming up, then cooling again. That is likely to draw fuel into areas where starting will become an issue. Think of it as a kind of capillary action.

Regardless of the fact that I personally am not a fan of the PH, there is a tendency of home tuners to select atomisers & float valve sizes far greater than is necessary, which I mention as they are additional factors that will not help with any tendency to flood......

Information about Dell'Orto tuning is freely available in pdf form on t'internet & therein lies good explanations of how best to select the sizes. Whilst bigger may be safer, it is not necessarily better, particularly with the atomiser which should be just big enough to allow running (albeit rich!) with no main jet fitted.
