Casa 185 Carb Options and Settings

Postby scarkey » Wed Feb 06, 2019 3:20 pm

Hi, Thinking about running a Casa 185 with 42mm clubman and either 25mm or 28mm Dellorto with no airbox.
What are the options of the Carb and settings that people have used.
TIA

Hi Clarkie,
Going through the same process myself! There are a few threads on this site and others (scooterotica) regarding same. One setting I have seen for PHBL 25mm is: Atomiser AQ268, Needle D29, second clip from top, Pilot 47, Main 98, and choke 60, with a 40 slide!
Only a starting point, but hope this helps.

Thanks Martin, I will give that a try.
I sort of got bogged down with the earlier thread as it wasn’t quite what I was looking for as I was trying to work with what I had. Skinflint as I am.

Must admit that I am trying to do mine on a budget, so I bought a 'used' 25mm dellorto, but slide needs replacing, new needle required, manifold rubber, inlet manifold, the list goes on. Would probably work out cheaper to buy as a full kit, prices ranging from £140ish, to £170ish, so might do that and sell carb on! Might also try a 22mm Jettex first, just to see how that performs!

I was reading in a recent Scootering that Stan is running this kit and pipe combination on a Polini 23mm carb as an all-day-every-day touring machine.

That might perform as well as a 26/28mm dellorto, but be a bit more frugal with the fuel.

Just saying.

I’ve got a Casa 185 in a S2 with a 42mm S2 style Clubman using a 25mm Delly but using a drilled air box.

40 Slide
Main 98
Pilot 48
Choke 60
Atomiser AQ 268
Needle D29 bottom groove

I run a Casa 185 with a Dell Orto 22mm (Spaco Copy) and it runs fine. No rocket ship by any stretch but soooooo nice to ride. 63.4mph gps up a moderate incline at 4 Nations last year. (sat back, elbows & knees in and just peeping over top of headset mind you)

A bit of an old thread but I am just about to set up a Casa 185, standard exhaust and a PHBL25. I have 40 and 45 slides, D22 and D29 needles and AQ266/268/270 atomisers.

Has anyone any further jetting details to share, it necessarily with a standard exhaust?

I am pretty happy on:

Pilot 45
Needle D29 second clip
Atomiser AQ270
Slide 45
Main 98

Not had it on a dyno. An AQ268 was a bit lean. This was noticeable when coming off the throttle. The slide is leaner than the normally used 40 so that probably made the lean spot more noticeable.

At some point, I may try a 100 main and/or AQ269.
