More air into air box

Postby WOO » Tue Mar 05, 2019 3:14 pm

Good afternoon
My early series 2 is now upgraded from a 125 to a 175 with a 22mm scootopia carb.
All runs nice with the original air scoop taken off so i have got a much larger GP scoop which will fit.
My air box has an 18mm inlet, i hear that you can drill holes in the box to improve air intake as well.
If that is the case does anyone know how many holes to drill, what diameter and presumably drill them near the top of the air box.
cheers
WOO

Fit a GP airbox. It has a larger opening I believe

I drilled a lot of holes in the forward face of airbox about 12mm holes I think. I Also cut out as much of the baffle/inlet tube inside the airbox as I could

Try random 10mm holes on both sides of the filter box, then they're hidden by the tank & toolbox,
don't forget a quality breathe sweet airfilter also, aswell as removing the internal swan kneck, 8-)
but JET UP TO SUIT

Try buying one of these to cut your own holes. They are a lovely tool to use and perfect for this kind of job.

No distortion and no burrs to clean-up, as it cuts a perfect circle every time.

Just modify the inlet to be 50mm like the bgm ones , when you cut the original neck off the inner baffle will come away easy enough
