Mikuni TM24 on a 175

I know that they aren’t commonly used but thought I’d ask anyway.

I am planning to buy one to put on a moderately tweaked 175 but with a standard exhaust. The carb will be run with a breath sweet filter under the panels.

It’s a while since I have used a TM24 but I am thinking of buying the following when I buy the carb:

Pilots 15 and 17.5
Needles 4DH7 and 5N13
Mains 155, 160, 165, 170.

Any thoughts anyone?

Hi.
I think Dickie is using 1 on the 175 he’s just built, I could be wrong though!
Cheers Shane.

Based on my own experience with the TM24, albeit on piston ported TS185 conversions, I’d consider adding a 175 main to that list if you’re running it with a remote filter. I’d also go with a larger atomizer than the one provided on most factory TM24s and go for a 454 Q3 or Q4. Good luck and please post your settings, including altitude, once you have it dialed in.

Cheers, Benji.

I had an MB road tuned 185 with an under kickstart Fresco that ran a 175 main so I was thinking that would be a touch big. That had a Ram Air filter. Thanks for the heads up about the atomiser. The standard factory float was okay from my recollection. Is that so?

It’ll be several months before this scooter sees the road but I can tell you that I live very near the Irish Sea :D
