My Scootopia 22mm. Jetex seems to be not working...probably due to old fuel....my bad.Is there a recommended company that cleans them for Lambretta users ?
On the chance it may be knacked what would you use to replace it?

Is the carb a true Jetex, or a Scootopia copy of the Dell’orto original?

Try buying an aerosol can of carb cleaner from Toolstation first. Strip the carb completely and give it a damn good blast with the carb cleaner.

Alternatively, carbs can be cleaned in a ultrasonic bath. Some scooter businesses offer this service but I don’t know which ones.

If you have a quick google on ultrasonic cleaning - theres bound to be a local motorcycle shop / restorer near you that offers this service.

"not working" is a bit vague, are you sure its not the small hole in the pilot jet blocked?

Do you not mean that it is a Scootopia Del Orto copy?

I had a Scootopia 22 mm carb and the float was catching on the inside of the float chamber.I bought an original Dellorto float (it was a little bit smaller)and the carb worked ok.

They are readily available from most Lambretta dealers and Eurocarb. However, don’t go and buy one yet. When you strip the carb, look for witness marks on the float and float chamber. That should tell you if it is catching on the float chamber. If it is, gently file it so it doesn’t.

Also:

Check that your choke is operating correctly ie that it seals when not in operation and properly lifts when you pull it.

Check that your slide is letting air in whilst the throttle is at rest.

Personally, I like to check that the float needle is working too. Fit the carb without the float chamber. Gently support the float with your finger and then turn on the petrol tap. By gently moving your finger up and down you should be able to get a sense about whether the float needle stops the fuel entering the float chamber when the float is raised.

Yes, that is correct. Jetex are Indian copies of Dell’Orto SH carburettors. They have been making them for many years but sometimes they are a bit hit and miss as to whether they work correctly out of the box.

Scootopia are a UK based business who gets parts manufactured for Lambrettas. Two or three years ago, they started retailing copy SH Dell’Ortos too. I don’t know where they are manufactured.

None of this alters anything though as you can use correct Dell’Orto jets, atomisers and slides in both Scootopia and Jetex SH carbs.

Got the carb off after a bit of trouble but managed to do it without damaging anything....Question for those in the know...should the slide be slightly open with the throttle closed ? Mine is...I might add that other than disconnecting the cables I haven’t any further work to strip it down.

Yes it should. To have ignition, you need petrol and air. If the slide was completely closed, you would not have any air getting through as you try and start the scooter with the throttle closed n
